[ THE FREE SPIRIT ] Arizona Muse for I-D Magazine Summer 2012

A little less colourful than my usual picks, this editorial comes from I-D Magazine's Summer 2012 issue, shot by Kayt Jones, featuring American model of the moment, Arizona Muse. Looks like those folks at I-D literally took her name into account with this shoot which follows Arizona riding horseback (through what could actually pass as Arizona) in an assortment of south-western inspired garb. Loving the nod to Native American culture with the statement jewellery, feather-braided hair, patchwork skirts and belted blanket shawls, topped off with a good ol' Stetson and a very authentic looking, feather adorned, cowhide drum.

[ NOOTKA GOES TO PARIS ] Antik Batik SS12

As I've mentioned before, and probably very predictably, I am 100% head over heals for French label Antik Batik. Oh, how I'd love to pick those exotically charged, ethnically saturated brains of Gabriella Cortese! Although I think such an act might result in a rather chaotic pile of batiky, mirror appliquéd mess. Marvelous! Anyway, back to the point, Gabriella's SS 2012 collection is no exception to my AB love affair: fringed suede satchels, multi-strand beaded necklaces, pearl embellished silk, ethnic embroidery and geometrical patterned straw clutches all thrown together with some kind of Native American boho vs Parisian chic (that light terracotta floral printed coat is beyond beautiful, but how did it get in there with that tasseled ethnic knit jumper?). Pocahontas in Paris perhaps?

[ SEND ME ETHNIC ] IN HAUS Press

I absolutely love hand-printed stationary. A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to learn how to screen print whilst preparing some ultra minimalist card artwork for Via Design, and ever since my desire to fill a whole page with prints and colour has been thrown out the window in favor of pure, simple, minimalism. It's just good design. So my penchant for crisp lines, skinny typeface and, of course, ethnic patterns, led me to the website of San Francisco based letterpress printers, IN HAUS.

I first fell for their American Indian inspired aesthetics a few months ago on their Etsy shop and have been popping back ever since to check out the newest additions. Some of my favorites include these awesome ethnic print table coasters and their quirky take on your average greetings cards like 'Lets move to the mountains' - why not?
